About Us
Our Story

In 1992, a small group of forward-thinking editors at Canadian Living magazine identified a need to feed hungry children. They soon discovered that thousands of people across Canada shared their vision and wanted to help too.

This marked the start of a national movement that continues to grow today. Since our inception over 17 years ago, Breakfast for Learning has helped to nourish over 2 million children from coast to coast to coast.

Today, together with a network of over 30,000 volunteers, Breakfast for Learning has helped start and sustain over 2,200 nutrition programs, serving millions of healthy breakfasts, lunches and snacks to more than 222,350* students across the country.

We believe in our community-development model that encourages communities to engage local expertise and resources to meet the needs of their child nutrition programs and the students it serves. We call upon all sectors – private, public and volunteer – to work together on behalf of Canada’s children.

When a child is hungry, it’s hard to learn. Together, we can help ensure children have the nutrition they need to grow and thrive with a world of opportunity in front of them.
