Sir George Simpson School

Sir George Simpson School in St. Albert, Alberta has been involved with Breakfast for Learning several years.  The staff’s goal is to provide a healthy school environment with physical activity and healthy food selections for our students.

With the assistance of Breakfast for Learning, they were able to provide fresh nutritious food for students in need by inviting two young adults from the local Transitions program and their worker to help shop and prepare food.  Fruit and vegetable plates and whole wheat submarine sandwiches were provided for students.

The program provides healthy alternatives for the entire school and gives students from many levels and programs the opportunity to help with food preparation for their peers and staff. The shift in service has been well received by students, staff and community and with the help of Breakfast for Learning, the school has now evolved to include healthy choices.
