BREAKFAST FOR LEARNING Northwest Territories

Breakfast for Learning Northwest Territories is committed to helping start and sustain school-based healthy breakfast, lunch and snack programs, ensuring that students are well-nourished and ready to learn.  Grants can be used for food, supplies and equipment, and staff/volunteer support required to run a school nutrition program. Before applying for a grant, please read the following.

Funding Criteria

In order to address the increasing demand for nutrition grants, Breakfast for Learning Northwest Territories has implemented the following funding criteria:

• program must operate a minimum of 2 days per week
• program must serve a minimum of 20% of the school
• after-school programs are not eligible for funding

Grant Application Deadlines

The grant application deadline for the 2010/2011 school year was October 15, 2010. Grant payments will be issued in January 2011.

New ONLINE GRANTING

To assist you with your application for this school year, Breakfast for Learning Northwest Territories has created an ONLINE GRANT application form.

By creating an online account and submitting your nutrition grant application directly to Breakfast for Learning Northwest Territories electronically, you can ensure your application is submitted before the October 15, 2010 deadline. We encourage you to apply online as once your profile is set up you will be able to submit your Progress Reports online as well. It will also make re-applying faster and easier next year.

Progress Reports

If you have previously received a Breakfast for Learning nutrition grant, please note that you must submit your Breakfast for Learning Northwest Territories Progress Report for last years grant to be considered for a grant this year.

NEW Online Progress Report Forms

To assist you with your application for this school year, Breakfast for Learning has created an Online Progress Report.

Only programs that used the online grant application form for their 2009-2010 funding will have access to the new Online Progress Report form. You can access the form through your online account, click here. It is located in the ‘Requirements’ section of your account. By submitting your progress report directly to Breakfast for Learning electronically, you can ensure your progress report is submitted before the June 30, 2010 deadline.
