BREAKFAST FOR LEARNING NOVA SCOTIA

tlcTHANK YOU TO THE LAW COURTS

Dawn Lewis, Judicial Assistant, NS Department of Justice, The Law Courts, Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, (Halifax) and social committee member pictured here (right) presented Margo Riebe-Butt, Coordinator of Breakfast for Learning Nova Scotia with a cheque for more than $700.00.

The Law Courts Social Committee was established in the Spring of 2004 and is made up of volunteer staff members from The Law Courts (TLC).  The committee supports fellow co-workers and encourages fun, laughter and cooperation.  Over the past 6 years, the committee has made generous contributions to various outreach projects for people in need as well as arranging much-appreciated morale-boosting events for the staff at The Law Courts.

In May of 2008, a social committee member presented the Breakfast for Learning initiative to the committee for consideration. They agreed to support BFL-Nova Scotia through various fundraisers and donation campaigns to take place over the course of the year.  The goal was to raise $500.00 and heighten awareness of  why a healthy breakfast is important and the many reasons children attend school without a nutritious breakfast.

TLC was successful in raising awareness of this very important initiative and a  cheque was presented to Margo Riebe-Butt, Coordinator of the Breakfast for Learning Nova Scotia on May 19, 2009.

Monies donated and fundraised over the past year including hosting two well-attended lunches for all staff at The Law Courts. The Committee’s hard work is enthusiastically supported by all!
