Breakfast for Learning Quebec is committed to helping start and sustain child nutrition programs, ensuring that students are well-nourished and ready to learn.  Grants can be used for food, supplies and equipment, and staff/volunteer support required to run a child nutrition program. Before applying for a grant, please read the following.

Funding Criteria

In order to address the increasing demand for nutrition grants, Breakfast for Learning Quebec has implemented the following funding criteria:

• program must operate a minimum of 3 days per week
• program must serve a minimum of 45 students or 20% of the school population (for example, if the school population is 200 of which 40 students participate in the nutrition program, you would be eligible for funding)
• after-school programs are not eligible for funding

Grant Application Deadlines

The grant application deadline for the 2010/2011 school year is June 30, 2010. Envelopes must be postmarked by this date in order to be considered. Grant payments will be issued in Sept/Oct 2010.

2010-2011 Grants to Include Loblaw Gift Cards
Once again due to the generous donation by President’s Choice Children’s Charities, those of you that qualify for Grants will receive part of the Grant in the form of Loblaw gift cards.  These should be treated like cash and kept in a secure location until utilized.

To assist you with your application for this school year, Breakfast for Learning has created an ONLINE GRANT application form.

By creating an online account and submitting your nutrition grant application directly to Breakfast for Learning electronically, you can ensure your application is submitted before the June 30, 2010 deadline.

NEW Online Progress Report Forms

To assist you with your application for this school year, Breakfast for Learning has created an Online Progress Report.

Only programs that used the online grant application form for their 2009-2010 funding will have access to the new Online Progress Report form. You can access the form through your online account, click here. It is located in the ‘Requirements’ section of your account. By submitting your progress report directly to Breakfast for Learning electronically, you can ensure your progress report is submitted before the June 30, 2010 deadline.

Please note that programs using the online progress report must also submit receipts (or copies) by mail totaling your BFL nutrition grant in order to be eligible for a new nutrition grant in 2010-2011.
