Chapter Member Testimonials

“I am excited about joining the Breakfast for Learning Chapter. I have seen first hand the positive impact this organization has on students and I am eager to lend a hand.”
Bev Closson, Breakfast for Learning Saskatchewan, Chapter Chair

I have been involved in many aspects of volunteering in schools, and working with children and youth for much of my adult life.  I recognize how critical it is for children to come to school prepared to learn, and how many factors can become barriers to that process.”
Ruth Griffith, Chapter Member

“Visiting the school nutrition programs leaves me feeling exhilarated! Seeing our work in action, children learning to make bannock, teachers breaking bread with their students, getting to know our colleagues, meeting new people- this is real and useful volunteer work!”
- Jean MacKay, Chapter Member, BFL Board of Directors

"When I visit the schools and help serve breakfast, it reminds me how privileged I was to live close to school; coming to school with a full belly and able to concentrate on listening to the teacher instead of my stomach.  Breakfast for Learning has been eye opening; even in a country like ours; there are issues close to home that we only realize once we are exposed to it"
- Serge Pelletier, Chapter Member, BHP Billiton Corporate Donor

"I appreciate and value that Breakfast for Learning is helping children and adults understand the importance of proper nutrition to developing strong and healthy people in a fun and engaging way.  I am happy to be a part of this organization and I look forward to contributing to this meaningful work."
- Karl Valiaho
, Chapter Member

“Visiting a nutrition program reminds us that we are doing more than putting food into a child’s stomach. We are providing a warm and welcoming way to start the day, making healthy foods a habit and creating a community that cares about kids. Being a BFL Chapter Member allows me to live out this belief.”
- Flo Woods, Chapter Member, R.D.

"Eating a healthy breakfast is essential to learning. Every child deserves a good start and I am proud to say that for the last six years, I have been working with Breakfast for Learning in Saskatchewan as a volunteer to ensure kids gets that chance."
- Donna Ziegler, Chapter Member
